HOW IT WORK
WHO ARE THE BIG BROTHERS AND THE BIG SISTERS ?
A Big Brother or a Big Sister is an adult:
- 18 years and over for traditional programs
- 25 years and over for the Mentorship 16|21
- who has the personal and relationship skills to be in contact with a young person
- who has the motivation and the commitment that correspond to the objectives of the GFGS movement
- who want to share wonderful moments with a youth
HOW THE VOLUNTEERING PROCESS WORKS?
- Completes an application
- Participates in a one-to-one interview with a staff member at the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization
- Submits a vulnerable sector screen, criminal records check, and three or four references
- Depending on the program, may be asked to participate in an assessment of their home environment
- Successfully complete the training Solid from the start
- Is notified of their acceptance/non-acceptance
Youth safety is one of our top priorities.
A constant and rigorous follow-up with all the participants involved in the pairing is ensured by the clinical team so the experience remains positive for all.
